Luke Bryan Sings National Anthem at Super Bowl 2017

Regardless of whether you’re a Patriots fan or a Falcons fan, we can all agree on one thing: Luke Bryan scored a touchdown with his rendition of the National Anthem at the 51st Super Bowl. The two-time ACM Entertainer of the Year took to the field at Houston’s NRG Stadium prior to kickoff to perform the iconic song.

Despite the pressure of the high-profile gig, the country superstar had no second thoughts about singing the “The Star-Spangled Banner”. Bryan told People before the big game, “I moved to Nashville to follow my dreams and singing the national anthem on that stage doesn’t get any bigger.”

While the anthem can be nerve-wracking, Bryan was eager to show his patriotic spirit through his performance, adding, “I never served in the military – that’s something I wish I had had the opportunity to do, but I feel like this is my way of honoring my country. It’s a little chance to serve.”

Bryan is the first male singer to sing the anthem on the Super Bowl stage since Billy Joel sang it 10 years ago. But let’s hope the honor of performing the National Anthem will help cheer the Georgia native up; Bryan’s home team, the Atlanta Falcons, lost to the New England Patriots 28-34.
